Pastoral Support and Counseling Pastoral support and counseling is a very important component of the Spiritual Life Program at Silver Bay. What follows are the different dimensions of this program. Pastoral Support There are times in life when one needs an opportunity to receive support for a challenge they are facing, a loss they are experiencing, or a hurt they are feeling. Pastoral Support is the opportunity to meet with a trained person in a confidential setting to express concern and feel support. Usually a person comes for a few sessions and feels better. Most often sessions are held in the Spiritual Life offices in Trinity House, but it is also possible to meet in local homes in needed. If so desired, prayer may be a part of this experience. Pastoral Counseling Pastoral Counseling is a more intentional experience where an individual or a couple is experiencing a need to address a certain issue that is causing them emotional pain. The process usually requires an individual to look inside and examine some emotional or behavior patterns that may need reflection. A person’s faith often plays an important role in the healing process. Sometimes a few sessions are what is needed and other times a person or couple may seek counseling for a longer period of time. Because of Silver Bay’s seasonal nature, some individuals come each summer for a few sessions as a way to address their emotional health and faith. Career Counseling People of all ages at times need help with career decision making. Marriage Recovery Some couples are truly struggling and on the verge of separation or divorce. The Spiritual Life program offers the unique opportunity to come and stay at Brookside or Trinity House for a couple of days and engage in some intense marriage counseling for larger blocks of time. This is very challenging work and asks much of the couple involved. True break through can only come with real honesty, openness, and forgiveness. Reconciliation is possible when the truth is spoken, hearts are open, and love is rekindled. Making an Appointment It is best to make an appointment. This can be done by calling the Spiritual Life Center at 518-543-8833 x 293 and speaking with Bev Hudak. Fees For full members of Silver Bay, there are no fees. Donations are accepted. For Basic members and non-members there is a sliding scale fee schedule. Nobody is denied access to services because of cost. The Marriage Recovery Program is support by the Brookside/Trinity endowment fund.
