Teambuilding & Leadership Development Activities
From schools to corporate groups to family reunions, Teambuilding and Leadership Development Programs are a great way to create and develop the community within your group. Located on the western shores of northern Lake George, Silver Bay YMCA of the Adirondacks is your home in the Adirondack paradise.
Work along with Silver Bay’s Program staff to design and develop a program that will meet the goals and objectives of your group. Below are a few examples of what we offer:
Low Ropes Course - A low risk challenge activity designed to increase group cooperation and increase awareness of group interaction. This course also examines leadership roles and issues as well as improving communication through active listening.
New Games – Icebreakers, team builders, and great fun! They can be used anywhere and any time and always relax a group that is in a new and unfamiliar place. These games focus on getting to know each other and creating a feeling of excitement for the next experience.
Climbing Wall – Come take a climb on our indoor climbing wall. With color-labeled handholds and depending on your preference of difficulty, a great experience is guaranteed. Choices in climbing wall classes are: Clip and Go session where you are focusing on your climbing skills, or an instructional session where you learn to belay, choose correct routes for your skill, and climb.
Wilderness Initiative Course – In another world, other rules apply! Return to the forest where you will combine orienteering and low ropes course challenges. Plan on being off-trail, bush-whacking, hiking and scrambling but it’s all done at the groups pace and is therefore a great team building program. Be prepared, this activity is designed to put you into settings and conversations outside of your comfort zone. When traveling through the woods, or in life, natural challenges take place. Expect to give or receive a helping hand as you and your group solve problems traversing the land. Generally this event is best done including lunch. Silver Bay can also weave many themes into this program. Ask us how we can enhance this experience to meet your needs!
Dropping –Another team builder designed to challenge you and your group in the dark! We’ll combine some wilderness initiatives at dusk, in the mountains and lead them away from their home. The challenge, to find their way back to home base! This is an amazing activity that not only brings a group together but can also bring multiple groups into play. By “dropping” multiple groups in different locations, a whole new level of group interactions come into place.
Labyrinth – The labyrinth is a tool that dates back to prehistoric times, to guide healing, deepen self knowledge, empower creativity, and allow time for reflection on an event or decision in one’s life. It is not a maze with dead ends and confusing turns. Walking often helps clear the mind, as renewed spiritual insight is given us, when practicing this form of centering prayer.
Character Development/Values Training - This session includes a group activities used to develop group and self awareness. Activites can invoke thought, build self-esteem, and create further awareness of our selves and the surrounding world.
Personality Styles - This an opportunity to examine and learn more about our own work styles and the styles of those around us. The goal is to deepen our appreciation for our own style as well as to appreciate the unique gifts of those who have different styles. This is a highly interactive and humorous workshop.
Leader as Coach, Coach as Leader- Coaching is the newest form of employee motivation. This interactive workshop provides an opportunity to both learn and practice a specific set of skills designed for effective coaching relationships. We can bring leadership development and teambuilding activities to you! For more information, give us call at 518 543-8833 ext. 316 or email us at program@silverbay.org.
