Spiritual Direction is a an art, a gift, and a calling. Spiritual guidance has been practiced in faith traditions throughout the ages as a means of encouraging and supporting spiritual development and personal transformation.

In each person, there is a deep yearning to return to the essential self, our inborn and innate spiritual nature.  This awakening of deep intimacy fosters growth of relationships with God, Self, and Others.

The Art of Spiritual Guidance is a program of study, reflection, and sharing undertaken in an environment of respect and support. Individuals come together to deepen their spiritual foundation, discern their call to this ministry, and to cultivate their ability to serve in the role of spiritual companion, friend, or director.

Enrollment is limited and early application is encouraged, the program begins September 2010. Applications are ongoing and are processed until the program is filled.

Carol Fournier, M.S., N.C.C - founder of the Silver Dove Institute - is a spiritual director and a national certified counselor with a specialty in spirituality, ministry and integrative healing offering formation internationally with a private practice in Vermont.

Carol serves on the Leadership Education Committee of Spiritual Directors International. She holds a Masters in Counseling from the University of Vermont (UVM) with a specialty in spiritual development and is a graduate of the "Art of Spiritual Guidance and Ministry" program. Carol is engaged in pre-doctoral advanced studies in Pastoral Ministry and Theology at St. Michael's College.

Carol has been a member of UVM faculty since 1997. In 2008, she was awarded a UVM Outstanding Faculty Social Justice Award for Leadership and Guidance of Spiritual and Religious Life.

The Silver Dove Institute is an educational non-profit supporting interfaith understanding and spiritual formation since 1996.
