Letterboxing at Silver Bay

Letterboxing is a hobby that can trace its roots to 1854 in Dartmoor, England. Enjoyed in North America only since 1998, participants combine art, literature, riddles, journaling, and compass reading with exploring interesting, historical, natural, or scenic places. The letterboxer is rewarded with a rubber stamp from which to make an imprint in his or her personal letterboxing journal. In turn, the letterboxer leaves his or her personal stamp image in the journal hidden with the letterbox.
Letterboxing is a great family activity that has been described as going on a treasure hunt; hiking with a reward; and an active pastime that also uses your brain power. Letterboxers love being out in nature combined with the thrill of the hunt and finding a stamp. They enjoy the folk art of hand-carved or specially selected rubber stamps and sharing amazing places with each other.
