Baptisms at Silver Bay
Many members of Silver Bay YMCA of the Adirondacks have chosen to baptize their children at Silver Bay. Baptisms can be performed by any ordained pastor or the Silver Bay Chaplain, and can either be part of a regular summer Sunday Worship service or held privately in the Chapel or at lakeside.

Labyrinth
The labyrinth is an ancient walking meditation tool that has been revived in our society over the past fifteen years with many being creatively used in hospitals, corporations, prisons, retreat centers, schools, playgrounds and other public spaces throughout the country today.

The labyrinth can assist us in finding a quiet, transparent and personal space inside ourselves in order to focus on ideas and feelings. It can be used as a place to help us revisit an important piece of work in progress, a place that offers a moment to resolve conflict, a safe place to feel inspired and renewed. The labyrinth can ultimately help all of us better realize our potential as human beings and out connection to one another on this planet.

While walking the path on the labyrinth, one is keenly aware of the common bond that we all share with one another, no matter what path in life we are on. This is an important realization that we are all on this good earth together for the purpose of building community. The Silver Bay labyrinth is located just north of Slim Point and is available 24 hours a day seven days a weeks for reflection and meditation.

Memorial Services
The Helen Hughes Memorial Chapel is available for families wishing to hold memorial services for loved ones who have passed. Memorial celebrations may be held during Sunday Worship Services, privately in the Chapel, or in our Memorial Garden.

The Memorial Garden is located adjacent to and south of the Chapel. Here loved ones’ ashes may be placed in the ground of the Garden to be visited by future generations. Services are performed by the Silver Bay Chaplain or by the pastor whom the family chooses. A $500 donation to the Memorial Garden Endowment Fund is suggested.

Pastoral Support and Counseling
There are times in life when one needs an opportunity to receive support for a challenge they are facing, a loss they are experiencing, or a hurt they are feeling. Pastoral Support is the opportunity to meet with a trained person in a confidential setting to express concern and feel support.  Pastoral Counseling is a more intentional experience where an individual or a couple is experiencing a need to address a certain issue that is causing them emotional pain. The process usually requires an individual to look inside and examine some emotional or behavior patterns that may need reflection.  A person’s faith often plays an important role in the healing process.

The Spiritual Life Program offers career counseling to people of all ages.  The opportunity to speak with someone about career choices, options, or opportunities can be helpful in discerning your “calling”.

The Spiritual Life Program also offers the unique opportunity for couples to come and stay at Brookside or Trinity House for a couple of days and engage in some intense marriage counseling for larger blocks of time. This is very challenging work and asks much of the couple involved. True break through can only come with real honesty, openness, and forgiveness. Reconciliation is possible when the truth is spoken, hearts are open, and love is rekindled.

To make an appointment contact Bev Hudak at 518-543-8833 ext 293.

This program is open to the community, and donations are accepted.
